In July 2021, Hypha Studios set out to bring the buzz back to vacant retail units in Broadwalk Shopping Centre.
Our partnership with Hypha Studios matchmakes creatives with high street spaces. The goal is to spread culture across communities and into empty commercial property.
While the landlord benefits from substantially reduced empty property rates, the activity and footfall in the area noticeably improves. This in turn protects and increases the value of properties.
With the help of Arts Council England, eight creatives are now in residence. These include photographers, poets and theatre groups.
The project has sparked the beginning of the regeneration of Broadwalk Shopping Centre, with Hypha Studios being nominated for a Pineapple Award – ‘Activation: Re-store’.
